HPT’s CSP Expertise to be featured at SPIE Optics + Photonics 2026
The HPT division continues to contribute to the international development of sustainable energy systems through research, industry engagement, and collaboration with key stakeholders around the world. At the upcoming SPIE Optics + Photonics conference taking place from August 23 – 27 in San Diego, USA, Rafael Guedez will deliver a keynote presentation at the opening session of the conference dedicated to heliostat systems, concentrating solar power (CSP), and large-scale solar thermal technologies.
Rafael will speak on "CSP in Mexico: Review of National CSP Program and Updates from First Projects Under Development" , together with Fidel Carrasco from Mexico's Secretariat of Energy (SENER) on the 25th of August at 9:50am. The session will provide an overview of Mexico's recently announced CSP program for the period 2026-2035 and the ongoing development of the country's first utility-scale CSP projects. Particular focus will be placed on the first two 50 MW solar power plants currently under development and the talk will include discussions regarding ongoing tender preparations, preliminary engineering activities, technology selection processes, and operational requirements associated with the expansion of renewable energy generation in Baja California Sur. The presentation draws on the HPT division's ongoing contributions to Mexico's newly announced CSP program. Through strategic engagements with government and industry stakeholders, the division has supported discussions on technology deployment, project development, and long-term energy planning, reflecting HPT's expertise and leadership in concentrating solar power, thermal energy storage, and large-scale energy system integration.
