The Energy Modelling Platform for Africa (EMP-A) 2019 , hosted by the University of Cape Town (South Africa), came to its end on the 31st of Jauary. Researchers and Government officials who attended successfully completed their in-depth trainings on long term energy system modelling and geospatial electrification, featuring the use of OSeMOSYS and OnSSET tools respectively. All participants to the training were able to develop a simple model for their countries and to start with some analysis of the models outcomes. Few of them were also offered the opportunity to present their analysis during the high level strategic dialogue that took place on the last two days of EMP-A. Participants have now returned to their home countries and will continue working on the development of their models and additional scenarios. At the same time, they will initiate several initiatives to transfer the knowledge acquired to other local experts. The event was jointly organised by ACPC-UNECA , WBG , UNDP , UNDESA , UKAID , UCT , KTH, the OpTIMUS.community and a number of African and international partners.
