Belgrade, March 21 - 22, 2019

On 21 and 22 March 2019, a multi-stakeholder dialogue entitled “Hard Talk: New Possibilities for Developing Renewable Energy Sustainably in Serbia”, organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), was held in Belgrade. The event was co-organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Mining and Energy in Serbia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). As part of a side event to the Hard-Talk, KTH-dESA PhD student  presented the division’s modelling work developed for the first phase of the Drina River Basin transboundary nexus assessment. The side event aimed at gathering comments and suggestions from stakeholders on the scenarios to be analysed in the second phase of the project. Climate change related impacts on the energy systems of the Drina River basin countries and the penetration of variable renewables in the power system are among the topics foreseen to be explored in the next phase of the project. The list of priorities and recommendations proposed from the Hard-Talk can be accessed here .
