Geo-spatial Working Group meeting

On December 5 the first Geo-spatial Working Group meeting was held in Kabul, Afghanistan as a result of the joined effort between the  World Bank  and KTH-dESA, aiming to develop a National High Resolution, Dynamic Least Cost Option Plan for Universal Electricity Access in Afghanistan.

KTH-dESA presented the OpeN Source Saptial Electrification Tool ( ) to GIS experts from various Afghan institutions (Afghan Energy Information Center, CRIDA, Kabul Polytechnic University etc.) along with representatives from the  Ministry of Energy and Water and Word Bank energy specialists. The discussion focused on the functionality and usability of the tool in identifying electrification pathways for Afghanistan over the next years. All expressed the importance of this initiative and provided valuable insights for the upcoming training workshop on ONSSET scheduled for January 25-26 in Dubai.
