2nd WEAP training in Uganda

Following the September-2016 introductory workshop in the Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) system tool, developed by SEI, an advanced training was carried out in the first week of November in Kampala, Uganda. The workshop was lead by Dr. Francisco Flores, from SEI-US, who was assisted by KTH-dESA researchers Vignesh Sridharan and Eunice Ramos. The workshop focused on providing the participants with advanced knowledge on the use of WEAP in the representation of key elements of water systems, such as irrigation demands, diversions, and reservoirs. The new concepts were applied to country-specific WEAP applications that the participants had to improve and explore further through the development of policy-relevant scenarios. One of the expected outputs of the training includes the elaboration of policy notes by the participants to support policy design in water resources management. This initiative was organised by UNDP and UNDESA.
