Capacity building in CLEWs starts in Bolivia

The Development Policy & Analysis Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, in cooperation with the KTH-dESA, organized the first CLEWs workshop in La Paz, Bolivia in November 2017. , a PhD candidate at KTH-dESA, gave lectures and support in the development of the energy model for Bolivia. Medium-level government officials from the planning sector such as UDAPE, CNDC, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Hydrocarbons, PNUD and YPFB participated. In this first workshop, focus was given to the development of the energy systems model in OSeMOSYS  using MoManI and the identification of pressure points between energy, land and water systems. The main outcomes from this workshop were the understanding of the modelling tool, the collaborative work between different institutions, and the analysis of specific policy scenarios envisioning the future integration in the CLEWs model. Three additional workshops in the CLEWs framework and modelling are foreseen in 2018 to complete the training programme.
