Energy-economy modelling training in Tunisia
April 29th to May 3rd
On April 29th to May 3rd, the second training within the project 'Support to the implementation of the Tunisian Solar Plan' (APST) took place in Tunis. The training focused on energy-economy modelling with OSeMOSYS and it was structured in two parts: 1) modelling demand and supply chains for energy services other than electricity; 2) linking an energy system model with an Input-Output model. dESA Researchers and provided the training, which was attended by 15 participants from a local Consortium including the Tunisian electricity utility STEG , École Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Tunis (ENIT) and Institut Tunisien de la Compétitivité et des Etudes Quantitatives (ITCEQ) . The training resulted in the establishment of ground knowledge about energy-economy modelling, the transfer of test models and teaching kits to the local Consortium and work on a Tunisian Energy Model for use by researchers, the utility and local institutions. The project, funded by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) , is mid-way in its implementation and will end in October 2019.
