Energy Modelling Platform for Asia Pacific

Coming up: the first Energy Modelling Platform for Asia and Pacific (EMP-APAC), as part of the Workshop on the National Expert SDG7 Tool for Energy Planning (NEXTSTEP) in Asia and the Pacific

Jointly organized by UNDP  and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the first EMP-APAC will be held on the 21st of March in Bankok (Thailand) at the UNESCAP  offices. During the event,  will give some introductions to geospatial electrification planning using the Open Source Spatial Electrification Toollkit ( OnSSET ), long-term energy system planning using the Open Source Energy Modelling System ( OSeMOSYS ), integrated Climate-, Land-, Energy-, Water-system ( CLEWs ) modelling and examples of their applications.
The EMP-APAC is schedule to happen on the last day of the Workshop on the National Expert SDG7 Tool for Energy Planning (NEXTSTEP) in Asia and the Pacific  that will take place at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok (Thailand) on the 19-21 of March. The workshop is co-organized by UNESCAP and UNDESA , and it will focus around the development of a National Expert SDG7 Tool for Energy Planning (NEXTSTEP) in support of the creation of national energy roadmaps to achieve SDG7 for government in the Asia-Pacific region. This tool is intended to assist in the development of policies that can support the transformation of the energy sector towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development  and the Paris Agreement .
