Expanding the CLEWs framework to the Santa Eulalia River basin in Peru

Published Jan 10, 2017

In collaboration with the Global Water Partnership and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru

Due to the crescent interest and relevance of nexus studies and the successful development of CLEWs assessments, Prof. Mark Howells, Director of KTH-dESA, was invited to take part on a scoping mission in December, in Lima, Peru, as an initial step towards the prospective development of the nexus assessment of the Santa Eulalia River basin. This initiative includes the Global Water Partnership and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru as main partners, and has already been endorsed by the National Water Authority (ANA) and by the Peruvian Committee of the Programa Agua, Clima y Desarollo para Sudamerica (South-American Programme for Water, Climate and Development). The main objective of the mission was the engagement of relevant stakeholders and funders to the joint project. Another important goal was to highlight the relevance of the implementation of a nexus assessment in the basin as to enhance cooperation between important sectoral actors towards the development of sound policy and strategic resource planning.
