Published Apr 27, 2018

A SIM4NEXUS case study

The first stakeholder workshop of the Swedish case study , as part of the SIM4NEXUS  H2020 project, was held at Clarion Hotel Gillet, Uppsala, on April 18 . The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding of the energy - water - food - land use and climate nexus in Sweden among stakeholders and gather practical sectoral insights from the stakeholders participation and interactions. The potential conflicts and synergies between the Swedish Environmental Objectives  (SEOs), which target the sectors of Water, Energy, Land, Food and Climate, worked as the basis for the discussion. A review exercise of the SEOs was performed in order for these to reflect and account for the knowledge, experience and views of the stakeholders. Furthermore, policy measures and instruments to achieve the different objectives were debated, including how European law is transposed into Swedish regulations and directives. Stakeholders from, among others, the Swedish Forest Agency , City Councils of Uppsala  and Jönköping  and National Food Agency of Sweden  attended the workshop. , Babak Khavari and Andreas Sahlberg participated on behalf of KTH-dESA. The workshop was organised by the case study leaders Dr. Claudia Teutschbein  and Dr. Malgorzata Blicharska , from the Environmental Analysis group  of the Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University. A second workshop is being planned for later this year, or early 2019.
