KTH-dESA participates in the 2nd high-level workshop on Understanding the Water-Energy Nexus

Published Jan 31, 2019

Organised by the European Commission (EC) and the US Department of Energy (DOE)

The European Commission (EC) and the US Department of Energy (DoE) organised a follow-up workshop on the EU-US collaboration for the improvement of the representation of water-energy interactions in power system modelling. The collaboration between research groups enables the knowledge exchange of state-of-the-art modelling methodologies and best practices. A first workshop was held at JRC (Ispra, Italy) in September 2016 . This second workshop was held at the Department of Energy headquarters in Washington DC, from 6 - 7 December 2018. One of the main goals of this event was the identification and discussion of pathways for model integration. Prof Mark Howells presented two EU projects that, among other aspects, explore the nexus between water and energy: SIM4NEXUS.eu , funded by the Directorate for Research and Innovation; and Spine , led by the Joint Research Centre.
