KTH-dESA @ Second Nexus Conference at Chapel Hill in North Carolina (USA)

The second Nexus Conference on Water, Food, Energy and Climate  was organised by The Water Institute at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, between 16 - 19 April. The conference focussed on the interconnections and nexus between Water, Food, Climate and Energy specific goals from the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development  (SDGs); special attention was given to assessing the nexus through an Urban Lens. The conference produced a declaration document to be circulated among member states (UN) for their consideration when preparing the Ministerial Declaration for the UN High Level Political Forum. This declaration builds on insights and opinions gathered prior to, and during the event, from all the plenary, parallel and poster sessions, and also during side events.  was a speaker in the panel on “Solutions and Tools for Accessing Renewable Energy in a Water Stressed World”. During this session, Prof Howells highlighted the importance of open data and transparency in shortcutting unnecessary hurdles in the research process, so as to streamline research and advance new, meaningful and practical knowledge. , PhD candidate at KTH-dESA, also attended the conference and presented nexus research work from the UNECE transboundary nexus assessments of the Syr Darya and Sava River basins.
