OnSSET GIS methods go open source!

Published May 22, 2018

Adopting QGIS

In an effort to make geospatial analysis using the Open Source Spatial Electrification Tool ( OnSSET ) available to a wider range of users, the GIS procedures for OnSSET have been transferred to a freely available and open source Geospatial Information System tool, QGIS .

A description of the main GIS routines and dataset requirements required for an OnSSET analysis, as well as Python codes to extract information from the GIS environment, applied to QGIS will be published on the tools user manual on ReadtheDocs . The updated information will be made available in connection to the second OpTIMUS Summer School on Modelling Tools for Sustainable Development taking place between June 4 - 29, 2018 at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP)  in Trieste, Italy

The manual for the OnSSET tool can be found here .
