October 27th and 28th

On October 27th and 28th, the 5th Workshop of the Open Energy Modelling Initiative was held in Milan. Here, representatives of KTH-dESA presented the current developments and challenges of OSeMOSYS, among which: 1) the formulation of revised equations for the storage block of functionality, to take into account energy losses; 2) current modelling exercises of water-energy balances and interactions for Nexus applications; 3) current work on the core code, to reduce the LP matrix generation side; 4) formulation of new equations for representing the flexibility of the electricity system. The Open Energy Modelling Initiative is a biannual meeting of energy modellers working with open source models and databases, where latest applications and advancements in the field from all over Europe and abroad are brought, through short-talks, tech-talks and work sessions. During the meeting, OSeMOSYS was addressed as the tool of several applications by a number of researchers. More information about the event and the initiative can be found  here .
