Recent World Bank publication on the Water-Energy Nexus in Southern Africa

Published Aug 08, 2016

Background paper to support the dialogue on the importance of the inter-linkages between water and energy sectors

KTH-dESA researchers provided expert comments  to a recent publication on water-energy nexus issues in the Southern African region. This publication is meant to serve as a background paper to support the dialogue on the importance of the inter-linkages between water and energy sectors in the region. The first of the two sections in the document explores the fundamental nexus issue and explores existing methodologies to assess and quantify it. The second section explores the specific case of Southern Africa; focusing on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries. This section explores the unevenly distributed water resources in the region and the threat an uncertain climate would pose in addition to the other trans-boundary nexus issues in the region. The publication can be obtained  here .
